The Pomp is a 223-acre mixed-use development and entertainment district being built at 777 Isle of Capri Boulevard in Pompano Beach, on the site of the former Pompano Park harness racetrack. It is a joint venture of The Cordish Companies and Caesars Entertainment, announced in May 2023 with roughly $2 billion in planned investment, and it is one of the largest developments in South Florida. The name honors the old racetrack.
What is in the build
The anchor is a Live! dining and entertainment district with more than 25,000 square feet of food and beverage venues, including a Sports & Social and a 7,000-square-foot PBR Cowboy Bar. Around that core the plan includes about 1.3 million square feet of retail and entertainment space, roughly 4,000 residential units, two hotels, about 1.4 million square feet of office space, and the remodeled Harrah's Pompano Beach casino at the center of it all. Year-round concerts and special events are part of the programming plan.
What is open already
Topgolf Pompano Beach was the early anchor: a 102-bay venue that grand-opened December 15, 2023. The first residential phase, a 417-unit apartment complex developed with Atlantic Residential, was announced in fall 2023. The remainder of the district is being built in phases over several years, and construction was ongoing into 2025 and beyond.
What it means for the area
Put plainly: a district of this scale brings jobs, visitors, dining, and evening life to a part of Pompano that, until recently, was best known for a racetrack and a casino. It raises the profile of everything within a few minutes of it, which includes Palm Aire.
What it does not do, no matter how many headlines say otherwise, is let anyone promise future prices. The value of the area will be set by the market over time.
