Palm Aire: The Golf Community at the Center of Pompano's Future.

Palm Aire began in 1959, when the developers behind the original club laid out what became the Palms course, a 50-room lodge followed in 1962, and, in 1965, a grand hotel and spa era that put the community on the national map. Sam Snead shot a course-record 65 here. The club hosted the Florida Open. Frank Sinatra was a regular, and the New York Yankees trained nearby. Billie Jean King once held the tennis pro post. In 1971 the community was annexed into Pompano Beach, an annexation that nearly doubled the city.

Three courses, parkland, and a hundred condo buildings

Today Palm Aire Country Club runs three semi-private 18-hole layouts: the Palms, the original 1959 course; Cypress; and the Oaks, from the Fazio design family. Around the fairways sit more than a hundred garden-style and mid-rise condo buildings, including the roughly 1,827-unit Palm-Aire Condominiums complex completed in 1970, set in the parklike landscaping the community was planned around.
