The anchor of the turnaround is the beach. Since 2015 the city and its Community Redevelopment Agency have put roughly $80 million into beachfront improvements, and the results are physical: a replaced pier, a new dining village, a renovated amphitheater, a parking garage, and streetscape work that turned the east end of Atlantic Boulevard from an afterthought into a destination.
The pier: rebuilt to the standards of the next fifty years
The Fisher Family Pier opened in its current form in April 2022 after a $12.5 million structural replacement. The 1,000-foot pier was rebuilt top-down, with pedestal lighting, glow-in-the-dark pavers, shade structures, educational placards, a bait shop, fish-cleaning stations, and a walking surface shaped like the city's Pompano fish logo at the far end. It is engineered to withstand a Category 3 hurricane.
The village: six walkable acres by the water
Pompano Beach Fishing Village turned six acres at the east end of Atlantic Boulevard into a pedestrian-first mix of dining, shops, and hospitality: casual and upscale restaurants, a tiki bar, retail, and a dual-branded Tru/Home2 hotel. Restaurants and retailers in the mix include Beach House Pompano, Oceanic Pompano, Lucky Fish, Baresco, Kilwins, and How You Brewin Coffee Company, with a 609-space parking garage serving the whole district. Businesses opened from 2018 onward.
The Amp: 3,000 seats under a wind-rated canopy
The Pompano Beach Amphitheater reopened in February 2022 after a renovation that added a tensile fabric roof canopy, upgraded audio and visual systems, new stage lighting, and new bathrooms. The debut concert was Styx with Don Felder, and the schedule has run year-round since.
Old Town: downtown gets a center of gravity
Downtown Pompano, branded Old Town, is being rebuilt around the Cultural Center as the epicenter of the city's dining and entertainment life. Old Town Square, 282 residential units plus retail, completed in May 2024, and the Old Town's Backyard plaza opened in 2023. A 2018 general-obligation bond of $181 million funded further infrastructure and public-space work citywide.
The market case, stated carefully
None of this is a price forecast, and anyone who promises one is guessing. What is factual: Pompano Beach has spent a decade converting itself from a pass-through into a destination, the beach is measurably rebuilt, and the next chapter, The Pomp, is under construction up the road. For a buyer comparing Palm Aire against Delray Beach or Boca Raton pricing, the relevant fact is value: recent Redfin figures put the Palm Aire median sale price around $235,000, a fraction of Boca Raton's reported medians in the $665,000 to $815,000 range, with Delray Beach between the two.
